Observation on Teacher

During the first day of the observation
4.1 Planning for Teaching

To teach, the teacher should have lesson plan. Teacher have to make lesson plan for every topic in every meeting. The lesson plan is the detail lesson plan which is very complex and detail, the lesson plan consist of lesson plan identity, date, time frame, indicator of the curriculum, learning objectives, subject matter, learning strategies, learning procedures and assignment. Teacher can’t teach if they don’t have the lesson plan and also if the material is not ready.

4.2 Preparing Lesson and Material

The teacher preparing the lesson  and teaching materials by his own not only based on the curriculum and the guidance book but also search from the other resources such as internet, Quipper, Kahoot and so on. The teacher also make her own slides or power point as the learning tools and the other learning tools too such as picture, paper, stick, ball, video and so on. 

4.3 Teaching in Class

In the class, the teacher always using expository (teacher center) for teaching. The teacher explain the material in front of the clas clearly and perfectly to the students using 98% English language, the teacher also always begin the class with questions followed by explanation. This strategy is good to encourage the students to have a critical thinking and to share their opinion with the rest of the class. Sometimes the teacher also use video and speaker to make the students more interested with the materials.

During my observation day, I notice that the class for ninth grade has been divided into five classes, they are Diamond, Amethyst, Supphire, Garnet and Jade. For the star class such as Diamond class, the teacher will use 98% English in teaching while for the lower class such as Garnet and Jade the teacher will use only 60% English. I also notice that the teacher like to create calm and quite atmosphere in the class to make the students more focus and understand the material. The best point is the teacher always give chance to the students to give and share their opinion in the classroom and the teacher always trying her best to make the students understand the material and give clear instruction to the students.

4.4 Measurement and Evaluation

For measurement and evaluation, the school and the teacher still using question sheet paper even though they do hope that they can use application such as Quipper to make the measurement and evaluation more easier and effective but since there is still limited internet connection in the school so it’s take time to implement that way in the school. After the discussion the students usually given test by the teacher to measure how far the students understand about the material that has been explain by the teacher.
