6.1 Purposes of  Practicum

General Purpose

The general purposes of the teaching practicum is to provide opportunities for the students teacher to gain more knowledge and experiences as a factual professional educators who have a set of knowledge, skills, experience and attitude necessary for the profession as an educator, both in their country and abroad.

The Specific Purpose of the teaching practicum as follows :

• To be the platform for the students teacher to express their ability and to explore their talent.
• To create and prepare a good teacher in the future who has excellent skills, knowledge and experiences to teach their students whether in their country or another country. 
• The student teachers be able to improve their communication skills specially using English language because they have to use English in doing communication with the others. 
• The student teachers be able to know their strength and their weaknesses in teaching 
• The student teachers be able to build new connection, new friendship and good relationship with their students, the other student teachers from the other country, their buddies, their mentors, their coordinator, their cooperative teachers and etc. 
• The student teachers be able to introduce to the other culture and experience their cultural activities.
• The studens teachers learn how to adopted with the environment and adjust the differences with the other people and the other culture or lifestyle.

This program is very excellent program for the student teachers because in a very short of time we can learn a lot of things so I believe that whoever join this program is the most luckiest person because for me it's really like a dream come true joining this program. I wish that I can inspire the other students to join this program because it's just one month, yes once in the lifetime.

6.2 Procedures of Practicum

My mentor Ma’am Sally or known as Ma’am Magbanwa introduced me to the procedures of the practicum since the first time I met her and she also introduced me to my beloved cooperative teacher Ma’am Netura the one’s who always accompanied me and observe me during my practicum teaching. The procedure of the practicum for a month of internship program consist of a lot of activity in the ISAT U Miagao Campus and Miagao National High School. The procedures of the practicum activities are :

a)      Orientation in the ISAT U Miagao Campus

b)      I.D Picture Taking

c)      Orientation and observation with mentors in Miagao National High School

d)      Class observation and teaching assist with the cooperative teacher

e)      Teaching Practice

f)       Teaching evaluation

g)      Reflection

6.3 Outcomes of Practicum

      The outcomes of the practicum as follows:

• The student teachers be able to gain many knowledge and many experience especially about the best way how to teach their students in the future
• The student teacher be able to know what is their strength and what is their weaknesses so that there's a room for improvement in the future
• The student teachers be able to exchange their idea, strategy and teaching method with the other students exchange and their cooperative teacher
• The student teachers be able to communicate and socialize with the other people and improve their confident level and English skills
• The student teachers be able to integrate knowledge, attitudes and skills professionally in educational institution both in their country and abroad
• The student teachers be able to experience new culture and recognize local culture and also work culture in the other institution from different country that are expected to be inspirational in creating better system in their country

6.4 The Challenges of Practicum

The challenges for me when doing the practical teaching in Miagao National High School is the less facilities provided for teaching such as the teaching book and because of the less of the internet connection it's hard to implement the technology in the classroom such as the use of the application like Quipper, Kahoot and etc in the learning process. To overcome the problem, I use everything that provided by the school wisely and effectively such as LCD, Speaker, and etc. Beside that I design my teaching tools and teaching strategy by implement the cooperative teaching method so that the students will experience the different atmosphere of learning process.

The other challenges is because of the noisy from the practicing drummer in the school yard so that it's really disturbing the teaching and learning process. During the Salakayan festival the students have to practice for the festival so that they do the practice and the preparation everyday in the school yard and of course it's very noisy and sometimes it's very disturbing and hard to teach the students because we need to talk louder in the class on the other side some of the students didn't attend the class because of they joining the performers. To overcome the challenge it's just about being patience with the situation, so I just being patience , understanding and continue teaching as there's nothing happened in the outside of the classroom.

6.5 Overall Impression

My overall impression to this program is amazing and excellent, because in short of time we learn many things such as educational system, work culture, cultural activity and lifestyle, we met many people, we went to many place, we build new friendship, new family, new connection and new good relationship. Furthermore, one things that I really impress and thankful about this program is I can  teach and inspire my students and being part of their life. I can say that this program is a high quality program because it's one in the lifetime and I hope that this program will always continue and more Asian country and  students will join this program in the future.

6.6 Suggestion for Future Improvement

The suggestion for the future improvement in SEA - Teacher project is the host university and the school should be earlier inform about the school, level to teach, the topic to teach, curriculum and etc , so that at least the student teachers have some illustration about what the preparation that they need to teach their students. On the other side, the schedule activity for the program was so tight and the students exchange have very less time to rest, I suggest that there would be a free time for the students exchange to take a rest because the students need to stay healthy and maintain their energy too. One more things is the schedule of the activity should be inform earlier and clear and also fix.
